Walsall’s Magical Waters light sound and water Christmas spectacular will be switched on by Nina Brook-Lloyd aged nine from Aldridge, pictured above.
Nina won the art competition hosted by The New Art Gallery Walsall to switch on this Jessup sponsored festive event at the Canal Basin adjacent to the Art Gallery on the 14th and 15th of December.
Over 100 children under 16 entered the competition at the Art Gallery at half term, and were tasked with making an origami boat and decorating it in the Gallery workshop. The entries were judged by Stephen Snoddy, the Director of The New Art Gallery Walsall and Clive Jessup of Jessup Build Develop, sponsors of the event.
Clive Jessup comments, ‘Along with many local people I fondly remember the Walsall Illuminations at the Arboretum. Our idea of this community event is to capture some of the appeal of the illuminations in a new form and bring some seasonal family enjoyment to Walsall. At the same time complementing Walsall Council’s festive street market and other entertainments’.
The Magical Waters show will be switched on at 4pm on Saturday the 14th of December. The 10 minute show will continue at 15 minute intervals until 7pm. It will be repeated on Sunday 15th December at the same times. Located at the Canal Basin by The New Art Gallery, the show is free, download your invitation here
