With property prices increasing, we see affordable homes becoming the “norm”. Families find it increasingly difficult to secure the necessary deposits in order to buy their own home. We believe this requires innovation in design, construction and delivery to build homes that deliver quality, value and longevity.
Jessup have over 3 decades of experience in delivering affordable homes and earned preferred partner status with the Homes England, the Government Agency responsible for delivering housing. In 2017 Jessup was also awarded a place on the HE Delivery Partner Panel 3 (DPP3) Framework, which is set up to accelerate the pace of house building in the UK. This puts Jessup at the forefront of delivering affordable homes for the communities of the Midlands.
Some examples of affordable housing solutions:
- Social housing, where rents are capped at a social rent by the local authority
- Affordable rents, where rents are set at up to 80% of market value
- Shared ownership, where purchasers part rent and part buy
- Supported housing, specialist solutions for the more vulnerable in our society
The government’s Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme has been running since 2016 (previously known as the “Affordable Homes Programme” from 2011 to 2015) and is aimed at increasing the supply of new affordable homes.
It provides funding which is managed via the Homes England to preferred suppliers such as Jessup, w
ho have a proven track record of delivering high quality affordable housing schemes.
The current funding programme runs from 2016 to 2021 and will provide £1.4bn to eligible schemes.
All our affordable housing developments are designed to enhance community life by creating pleasant and practical places to live. To further improve some of these community developments we have created local neighbourhood centres with a mix of houses, apartments and retail facilities to provide a focal point to create an identifiable heart of the community.
These local centres interact with existing individual facilities such as libraries, schools or medical practises to improve lifestyles for all age groups. Jessup staff work hard during the construction phase to engage with local people and explain the benefits of the scheme. As a consequence, by the time construction is complete the development has become a welcome addition to the area.
